Fresh Turmeric Moon Milk

Ingredients
  • 1-inch piece fresh turmeric root - peeled if not organic
  • ½-inch piece fresh ginger - peeled if not organic
  • 1-2 soft dates
  • 5 cardamom pods - shelled
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup hemp hearts
  • small piece of cacao butter or coconut butter
  • a few grinds of black pepper
  • a pinch of nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon maca powder (optional)
  • a pinch of vanilla powder or a splash of vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon ghee (optional)
Instructions
  1. Heat up your favorite cup's worth of hot water.
  2. Add all the ingredients to a high-speed blender and pour in the hot water. Blend on high until smooth and frothy. Enjoy!
Notes
If you are planning on drinking this before bed and usually feel energized by raw cacao products, consider using coconut butter instead of cacao butter, so as to not interrupt your sleep. Same with the maca - if it usually energizes you, consider omitting it from the drink if drinking it before bed.
