Today we are sharing another step-by-step video we filmed of one of our favorite recipes from Simply Vibrant, in order to show how fun it is to cook from the book :) This Chocolate Orange Bundt Cake is gluten-free, vegan, and sweetened only with dates. The recipe took me so long to develop that I almost scrapped it from the manuscript. I’m so glad I didn’t though, because it’s been the most popular recipe from the book so far. The combination of chocolate and orange is, in my opinion, the most heavenly pairing out there. Your house will smell amazing if/when you bake this baby. You can find the full recipe in Simply Vibrant.
And just for fun, below is a round up of photos of the cake in other people’s kitchens. A few people have made it into a birthday cake, and everyone’s been getting creative with the toppings. We really love seeing what you cook from the book, so don’t forget to tag your creations #simplyvibrantcookbook. Thank you so much for your continued support, have a great Sunday!

I’m looking at getting a bundt to make this, in the vid you used a tin but is the cake actually made in a silacon dish? Which do you find best?
Anya says
Hi Rebecca,
Good eye :) I like them both! I like the silicon one because it has a prettier shape, but the tin one works very well too, and seems to be more durable in the long run.

I made this and it was delicous. But I don’t love the orange chocolate combination. Did you ever try it without the orange in it? I am thinking of leaving it out and replacing it with another type of juice like maybe cherry juice? Sandy
Anya says
Hi Sandy,
Glad you enjoyed it! I’ve never tried it, but I think replacing the orange juice with some other juice or even plant milk (almond, etc.) and removing the orange zest could work. Please let us know how it goes if you try it.
Sarah says
I subbed pomegranate juice for the orange juice (plus a tiny bit of lemon juice) and used lemon zest instead of orange zest. It worked perfectly!
Anya says
Hi Sarah,
That’s genius! Thanks so much for letting us know.
